France 2001
Here are the pictures from our Trip to France. Thanks for dropping by.

Caen & Villers Bocage

Ducal Castle — Built in 1060 by William the Conqueror, the ducal castle at Caen is one of the largest fortified enclosures in Europe.

British Memorial — "Thank you" for the British liberation of Caen in 1944.

Caen Church — When we first saw this, we thought it was a really big church. However, this turned out to be pretty small compared with several others we saw later.

Villers Church — A small Church and Cemetery near the town of Villers Bocage.

Bocage — I'm standing in a small breach in the "bocage" outside of a village called "Villers Bocage". The bocage (hedges) made progress in Normandy very slow for the allied infantry and armor. It's so thick that tanks could not drive through it, and you really can't see what's on the other side of it without moving up real close.
